The diving off Umhlanga varies dramatically, with a few shallow scattered reefs, to impressive canyons. Several wrecks lay scattered along this coastline, and are teeming with fish.
Marine life along this stretch of the KZN coastline is diverse. Invertebrates such as nudibranchs are abundant, as are crayfish and other crustaceans. Moray eels, octopi, scorpionfish and paperfish hide and the cracks and crevices. Stingrays and guitar sharks are sometimes seen along the bottom of the canyons or lying on the sand.
Overhead, schools of angelfish, snoek and larger game fish pass over. Out of the blue, the occasional dolphin may appear, and the alert diver may even glimpse a shark to two.

Aqua Rush launches 7 days a week, provided a minimum of 4 divers onboard. Launches are mainly in the mornings due to sea conditions deteriating as the wind picks up. In ideal conditions, night dives are also offered.
Launch times are determined by the tides and are strictly on the hour as Grannys Pool and Umhlanga Main Beach are bathing beaches.
